May 1, 2006: Almost all of the original stones have now been replaced with their much-improved counterparts, and several new stones have been added as well - thank you to all who were so very supportive of us and sponsored additional stones!

June 12, 2005:
Since April, OSG has been working on replacing the stepping stones on the Elanor Garden pathway. The old stones had been made in a somewhat primitive style that we felt needed an upgrade. The new stepping stones are somewhat smaller but thicker, and are made from a buff/ivory concrete. Leaves and flowers are pressed into the wet concrete, to give each stone its own 3-D floral feature. The stones are then painted and inscribed with a quote of the sponsor's choosing. The sponsor's name appears on the margin of the stone, and each stone bears the OSG logo.

Sponsors of the original Project Elanor Stepping Stones paid $50 per stone to have their names and quotes become a permanent part of the Elanor Garden. The original stones are all being replaced with the "upgraded model." Some of the "before and after" photos of the upgraded stones appear in the margins--click on the small photos for a larger view! If you sponsored a stone in the Elanor Garden back in 2003 and do not see your stone, check back later, as only half of the upgrades are complete and in the ground. More photos to come!

All that is gold...

Finally, there is still plenty of room on the Elanor pathway for additional stones! The more stepping stones we can put in, the fewer weeds we'll have to pull out of the pathway! If you would like to help save our backs while making your own permanent contribution to the Elanor Garden, you can sponsor your own stone for a donation of $30.

Instructions for Sponsoring a Stepping Stone

  1. Specify the information for your stone by filling out the form below. Be sure to check the list of quotes that have already been used. If you need some ideas for quotes, Peg Kerr has created a bunch of LOTR quote icons here and here.
  2. If you would like to request a leaf and/or flower for the impression in your stone, please be as specific as you can (the Latin species name is better than the common name, for example). If your plant cannot be found, a close look-alike will be substituted. Choosing from plants that are native to Oregon and the Willamette Valley will help assure that you get the imprint you want.
  3. Your email will be used only to discuss your stone; it will never be put on any mailing lists.
  4. The Sponsor Name will be printed in the margins of your stone. Feel free to use your real name, online name, company name, or whatever you prefer.
  5. You can pay for your stone online through Pay Pal, or you can send a check or money order. Please indicate your payment method below, and you will receive an email with payment instructions.
